Vila Viçosa

Working with stone immediately raises the question of its origin and its interaction with the landscape. So I thought of developing a piece directly connected to the quarry. Inspired by the fabulous work of Marjan Teeuwen with Destroyed House project, we stack layers of marble, using the leftovers from the transformation process. It is about (re-)filling the shape of a quarry with the irregular disposition of the slabs, the assembling will reveal a soft but disruptive texture that will mirror the carved surface of the quarry. Sculpted with the shape of a quarry from above, this low table embeds a strong marker, gently inviting us to question ourselves on the impact of our actions on the landscape.
